Boca Grande is part of the Cape Coral–Fort Myers are and is a small residential community on Gasparilla Island on the southwest Florida Gulf Coast. The village of Boca Grande is home to many seasonal and year-round residents as well as a retreat for

Boca Grande is Spanish for "Big Mouth" and comes from the entrance of Boca Grande Pass located at the southern tip of the island. Due to the small size of the village of Boca Grande many locals use golf carts for transportation. On an average day in Boca Grande you will see both golf carts and automobiles motoring about town. The county has designated all but two streets as golf cart paths.

Boca Grande is located on a seven mile long island that boasts no tall building or traffic lights. Boca Grande also is home to a 104 year old lighthouse, and a street with 80 year old Banyan trees. Beautiful white sand beaches stretch the entire Gulf side of the Island, while protected waterways on the east side are home to a natural mangrove shoreline.

Boca Grande is home to great fishing from the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico to the backwaters of Charlotte Harbor. You'll find the waters of Boca Grande populated with tarpon, grouper, snapper, mackerel, kingfish, snook and redfish. Boca Grande Camera Club to hold annual exhibition
The Boca Grande Camera Club will hold its third annual photographic show, “Photography as Art” on Friday, Jan. 27 through Sunday, Jan. 29 at the Boca Grande Art Alliance. The opening reception starts at 5 p.m. on Friday and the show runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 28 and 29.

Boca Grande Masters Art Festival will be held March 24 and 25 on the grounds of the historic Boca Grande Resort. It is held at the same time as the Boca Grande Wine Festival on the same property. Proceeds benefit The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Kids Classic Tournament details fine-tuned … and it will be a day to remember
The Kids Classic this year will be held on May 19, 2012, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. during the outgoing hill tide. Each team will consist of four anglers, and it’s a $1,000 donation per team to enter.

Fixed bridge bids in, millions higher than expected
The Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority had anticipated the project to cost around $10 million, according to figures provided by bridge consultants Kisinger, Campo and Associates and DRMP. Instead, the lowest bid came in at $16.2 million.
